I was known by my
friends in the writing circle as a poet. My poems have
been published in a number of magazines in the
Philippines. I was a writing fellow of the University of
the Philippines 1993 Writers Workshop and was
among the ten outstanding fellows then. Because of my
full-time job and other reasons, I never really came
close to publishing my poetry collection. I always
thought that I should have a regular job and just write
during my spare time but the spare time never really
came. I realized that if I really wanted to write, I
should make time for writing.
In 2007, I stumbled on Rob Parnells website. With
the websites welcoming and very encouraging
articles that walked me through the possibilities for
writers, I signed up in one of Robs writing
courses.
I was already keeping a blog before I was into the course
but never really thought that blogs could be a source of
income. Robs writing course just introduced me to
the limitless possibilities in a writers world.
Blogging is just one of these possibilities. I am not yet
getting a lot of traffic for my blog and the trickle of
cents is very slow. But the fact that cents are slowly
landing into my blog because of Google Adsense, blogging
also opens up a new possibility for me. I know I am still
in the process of building my internet presence, so I
dont expect much yet. I just keep on writing. I
know Ill get somewhere someday.
I also signed up in the Santa Stampede
courses of Easy Way to Write Fiction 101, the Four
Genres of Short Story Writing and The Internet Guru. I
have never been so thrilled about my day-to-day progress
that I think each day takes me an inch closer to my
writing dream.
